RCIA—THE SCRUTINIES CONTINUE

The Scrutinies are rituals of the RCIA which are celebrated during Lent.  We pray that God will heal all that is weak or sinful in the hearts of our candidates, and strengthen all that is upright and good. Next weekend at the 9:00 a.m. Mass on March 22, we will celebrate the Second Scrutiny for Heather Fuller and Gary Wiant, who are preparing for initiation at the Easter Vigil. The Third Scrutiny will occur the following week, on March 29 at the 11:00 a.m. Mass.  Prepare for the celebration of the scrutinies in a personal way by discerning what in your own life needs to be freed from sin's bondage, and turn to Jesus for freedom from sin and protection from all evil.

LENTEN RETREAT

The parish's Lenten Evening of Reflection will be held on Tuesday, March 24. Father Scott Seethaler, OFM, will conduct this year's service which begins at 7:00 p.m. All men and women of the parish are invited to attend; no reservations are required. The Aquinas Guild annually sponsors the retreat.

THIS IS THE TIME TO MAKE A GOOD CONFESSION!

When was the last time you went to confession??

We are now three weeks away from Palm Sunday. So you have three weeks to make a good confession to prepare for Easter. There are no scheduled times for reconciliation in Holy Week!! Please check this bulletin for the many times and opportunities for confession here at St. Scholastica as well as in neighboring parishes.

PARISH SHARE

The diocese is relying on us and the other 212 parishes to support diocesan wide programs such as seminarian education, campus ministry, Youth Office, Schools Office, the Bishop's Office, support for retired priests, etc.  Fully two thirds of diocesan income comes from this Lenten campaign.  Our assessment this year is $87,524.00.  Please do you FAIR SHARE to support PARISH SHARE!!   We are asking YOU to make a ten month pledge of $25.00 per month for ten months- for a total of $250.00.  With your help we can make our goal and help our diocese to be vital and dynamic especially as we face the challenges of the future.  Please use your "Parish Share" envelope each month.

CATHOLIC CAMPAIGN FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT/CATHOLIC HOME MISSIONS APPEAL/ NATIONAL CATHOLIC COLLECTION FOR BLACK AND INDIAN MISSIONS

Next weekend (March 21 and 22nd) all parishes in the diocese are asked to take up a combined collection to benefit three very important projects with the Church in the United States. The Catholic Campaign For Human Development was established 38 years ago to assist people across the nation to break the cycle of poverty. CCDH projects in our diocese and throughout the United States support low-income people as they work together to advance education opportunities, create jobs and improve access to services for the disabled. Catholic Home Missions supports places in Appalachia, the deep south, the Southwest and the Rocky Mountain States. The National Collection For Black And Indian Missions assists with the evangelization of Black And Native American communities and parishes throughout the nation- particularly those parishes devasted by hurricanes in recent years.
