BAPTISMAL PREPARATION

A preparation session for the parents of children who are scheduled to be baptized in the parish will be held on Monday evening, December 14, at 7:30 in the parish office.  The session will provide parents an opportunity to reflect upon the meaning of the sacrament and to walk through the ceremony itself. If you plan to attend the session on the 14th, please let Andy Bechman know (see the staff contact information in this bulletin).  The next baptism preparation session will take place on January 25, 2010.  Baptisms are normally celebrated on the second and fourth Sundays of each month.  Parents should note, however, that baptisms are not celebrated during Lent.  February 14 is the last day for baptisms before Lent in 2010.  Please make arrangements for the baptism itself with the parish secretary at least two weeks before your desired date.

An Adult Christ at Christmas

Join us to consider the Infancy narratives in the Gospels according to Matthew and to Luke from the point of view of modern Scripture scholarship.  Approaching these stories as adults, we may find that in them we encounter the adult Jesus.  We will meet in the Pastoral Center on Thursday morning, December 17, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m.  There is no fee or registration.

CHRISTMAS GIFT PROJECT

All Christmas gift donations including tuition donation envelopes for students of Haiti and Kenya are due this weekend.  Please join us today after mass as we carry the gifts from the altar to the rectory, where the gift will be sorted for delivery.

RESPECT LIFE COMMITTEE

The Respect Life Committee will meet Tuesday evening, December 15th, in the Pastoral Center, at 7:30 pm.  All are welcome.

STEWARDSHIP CORNER

Each week, we will use this space to inform you about one or more parish ministries or organizations.  Please consider whether God is calling you to give your time and skills to one of these groups!  Moms Uplifting Moms (MUMs) is a celebration of our Christian motherhood.  Moms join together in prayer and scripture study and enjoy a peaceful opportunity to read, discuss and reflect on the Word of God while their children enjoy the loving care of fellow parishioners.  We meet in the Pastoral Center on Monday mornings from 9:15 to 10:30 from late September to early December and from February to the beginning of May. For more information, please contact Sue Goodwin at 412-967-0791 or Mary Henry at 412-963-9704.

GIFT CERTIFICATES

We will be selling certificates after Masses next weekend.  We will have a variety of certificates available, restaurants and retail stores, along with all local food stores.  This is a prefect time to finish any last minute gift idea's and to purchase Giant Eagle or Community Market for your holiday entertaining.
