LIFE LINE SCREENING
Are you, or have you ever been, a smoker?  Are you a male over 55?  St. Scholastica is pleased to host a Life Line Screening preventive health event to scan for risk of an abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA).  Life Line Screening uses hospital quality ultrasound technology to detect an enlargement or weak area in the main blood vessel that carries blood from the heart to the rest of the body.  Warning signs of AAA often go unidentified and if ruptured, abdominal aortic aneurysms are 80-95% fatal.  The screening will be held on Friday, May 6, 2011.  Register for the Stroke, Vascular Disease and Heart Rhythm Package for $139.  All four ultrasound screenings take 60-90 minutes to complete.  Your Health is in Your Hands, so call 1-888-653-6441 to pre-register.

 STATIONS OF THE CROSS
Stations of the Cross are on Friday evenings in Lent at 7:00pm (no Stations on Good Friday evening).

2011 MASS INTENTIONS
Mass Intentions are still available for 2011.  Special requests will be considered for 25th or 50th Wedding Anniversary Masses requested during the regularly scheduled Mass times.  The donation for Masses, as mandated by the Diocese, remains at $10.00 each. For information and available dates, please call the parish office, 412-781-0186, ext. 10.

ALTAR FLOWER ARRANGEMENTS
As you know, during Lent we have no flower arrangements in the sanctuary. However, during the Easter season and summer we always have a flower arrangement in front of the altar. If you would like to honor someone (birthday, wedding anniversary, date of death, etc.) a donation of $50.00 or more will dedicate the altar arrangement for that person.  Also, we will publish that person's name in the bulletin for that week. For information and available dates, please call the parish office  412-781-0186 ext10.

RCIA UPDATE
You may remember a variety of RCIA rituals occurring during Lent the past several years, such as scrutinies and sending candidates off during Mass to reflect on the Scriptures.  Those rituals are for candidates preparing to receive sacraments at Eastertime, and we have no one in that situation this year.  We do have two persons in the initial stage of the RCIA.  The period of inquiry or the precatechumenate is a time for people to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ proclaimed and to explore any questions they have about the Gospel and the Church.  Inquirers who have been baptized in other Christian communities and who are exploring full communion with the Catholic Church may use this period to recommit themselves to their Christian faith and to learn more about the life of the Catholic community.  As the stage progresses, inquirers will discern whether they will pursue initiation into the Catholic community.  Please pray for our inquirers during this Lenten season.  May their sincere search for the heart of our faith inspire us all to a deeper turning toward the Gospel and our Lord!

THE ABCs OF CATHOLIC ANNULMENTS
If you are divorced or in a second marriage and would like an overview of annulments, please attend a session this Monday, March 28th, at 7:30 p.m. in the Pastoral Center.  Fr. Ken White will talk about the annulment process and how to take the first steps.  If you know someone who might benefit from this information, please invite him or her to attend and offer to come along for support.

FISH FRY!  FISH FRY!
