SUMMER BOOK REVIEW
If you are looking for a readable and well written book on Christian Spirituality, I recommend Fr. Ronald Rolheiser's book: The Holy Longing: The Search for a Christian Spirituality.  This relatively short book (250pp) is for those searching to understand what Christian spirituality means and how to apply it to their lives  Fr. Rolheiser get quickly to the heart of common difficulties with the subject, and shows through compelling anecdotes and personal examples how to channel that restlessness, that deep desire, into a healthy spirituality.  Hopefully this book will help make the things of faith a little clearer, a little more acceptable, and a whole lot more hopeful.  The hope too is that a bit of God's sympathy and consolation might seep through and touch you as you struggle with faith and church in a very complex time.  Fr. Ken

DROP-IN BIBLE STUDY
Join us this summer for a drop-in Bible study. There is no need to commit for multiple sessions, just come when you can!  You can join other parishioners in a relaxed summer setting, become more comfortable with reading the Scriptures, and prepare yourself for Mass on Sunday. Initially, we will use the next Sunday's Scripture readings as our focus. Each week, you can choose between a Tuesday evening meeting from 7:30 to 8:45 in Marsico Library in the Ministry Center OR a Thursday morning meeting from 10:00-11:15 in the north room (near the kitchen) of the Pastoral Center. Tuesday sessions will meet on June 21 & 28 and July 5 & 12; Thursday sessions on June 23 & 30 and July 7 & 14. If interest warrants, we will continue the study further into the summer. We will provide study materials. No registration is necessary and there is no fee, although we will accept contributions toward the materials and toward refreshments. Questions? Contact Andy Bechman at andybechman@saintscholastica.com.

PENTECOST OPEN HOUSE
Everyone is invited to the Pastoral Center after the 9:00am and 11:00am Masses this Sunday.  We especially invite all new parishioners.  Coffee, tea, juice and breakfast foods will be served.  Please stop by to extend a warm welcome to the newest members of our parish!

SAVE THE DATE & REQUEST FOR HELP
Please save Sunday, September 18thfor this year's Parish Picnic.  We will be having the picnic at Squaw Valley Park. Please watch the bulletin for further announcements and details.  In addition, I would like to ask for your help in preparing for the picnic.  This is great way to get involved!  We will have meetings about once a month in May, June, July and August to start preparing and stay on track to be ready for the picnic. Then, in September, we may have a couple of meetings as the picnic date approaches.  There will be a variety of opportunities to help organize and prepare for the picnic that will fit into any schedule.  I invite you to come to our first Picnic Planning meeting on Wed, May 25th at 7:00 in the Pastoral Center to learn what opportunities there are to help. If you are interested, but unable to attend the meeting, please call Elaine DuVall at 412-781-6941.
