BIBLE STUDY BEGINS
Our summer drop-in Bible study begins this week. There is no need to commit for multiple sessions, just come when you can!  Join other parishioners in a relaxed summer setting, become more comfortable with reading the Scriptures, and prepare yourself for Mass on Sunday. Initially, we will use the next Sunday's Scripture readings as our focus. Each week, you can choose between a Tuesday evening meeting from 7:30 to 8:45 in Marsico Library in the Ministry Center OR a Thursday morning meeting from 10:00-11:15 in the north section (near the kitchen) of the Pastoral Center. Tuesday sessions will meet on June 21 & 28and July 5 & 12; Thursday sessions on June 23 & 30and July 7 & 14.  If interest warrants, we will continue the study further into the summer. We will provide study materials. No registration is necessary and there is no fee, although we will accept contributions toward the materials and toward refreshments. Questions? Contact Andy Bechman at andybechman@ saintscholastica.com.

SUMMER BOOK REVIEW
I recommend for your reading: The Jesuit Guide to (Almost) Everything: A Spirituality for Real Life (406pp), by Fr. James Martin, SJ.  David Gibson, author of  The Coming Catholic Church, writes this review: "For believers of all kinds, and many nonbelievers, too, the Jesuit tradition is the strongest bridge across the growing gulf between religious faith and the modern world. That is thanks to the wisdom of the Society's founder, St. Ignatius of Loyola.  And now, thanks to Father James Martin, we have a wonderful 'how -to' guide to Ignatian spirituality that can renew the faith of believers and help any pilgrim on their daily struggle to cope and to find meaning.  And it will make you smile! This book is a delight and a treasure."

YOUTH MASS
July 2nd at 5:00 pm.  This will be our welcome home from Appalachia!  Please join us in this celebration!

SAVE THE DATE & REQUEST FOR HELP
Please save Sunday, September 18thfor this year's Parish Picnic.  We will be having the picnic at Squaw Valley Park. Please watch the bulletin for further announcements and details.  In addition, I would like to ask for your help in preparing for the picnic.  This is great way to get involved!  We will have meetings about once a month in May, June, July and August to start preparing and stay on track to be ready for the picnic. Then, in September, we may have a couple of meetings as the picnic date approaches.  There will be a variety of opportunities to help organize and prepare for the picnic that will fit into any schedule. If you are interested, but unable to attend the meeting, please call Elaine DuVall at 412-781-6941.

PAINTING THE CHURCH
Tomorrow, Monday, June 20th, we will begin the three-week process of painting the church.  Our church building was last painted 30 years ago!  We have contracted with A.J. Vater and Co.  They specialize in church painting and painted our church last time.  It will take about three weeks to paint the church.  We will have Sunday Masses and funerals in the church building, but weekday Masses will be in the Pastoral Center.  The main change in color will be to repaint the gray to a cream color.  The church will look refreshed with a new coat of paint!! Fr. Ken
