November 27, 2011

 Dear Church Family,
We are excited to announce that our church will be putting together a new pictorial directory! This directory will be a great tool for helping us to put faces with names. Every participating family will receive a free pictorial directory, as well as a $25 gift certificate good toward any portrait purchase. You will only have to make one visit to the church, as you will be photographed and view your poses after you are done being photographed. So please stop at the sign up table in the back of church today to schedule your appointment. You may also sign up by email at parish@saintscholatica.com or by phone at 412-781-0186 ext. 10. The sooner you sign up, the more times you'll have to choose from. See you in the directory!

Our call to stewardship includes all of the ways in which we receive God's gifts with gratitude, cultivate them, and share them with others.
Help Needed!
· We are looking for volunteers to welcome parishioners to their photo directory sessions. Photo sessions will be scheduled on January 10-14, February 7-11, and May 4-5. Most sessions are from 5:00-8:30 pm, but volunteer times are negotiable. If you can help, please contact Chrissy Morton at 412-781-0186,  ext. 24.
· Nancy Heil is requesting new toys (unused toys that you would like to "re-gift" are also acceptable) for Pittsburgh area people who are unable to purchase Christmas gifts. Please leave the toys in one of the bins in the vestibule of the church as soon as possible, but no later than December 6.  Nancy particularly requests footballs, basketballs, purses, legos and duplos.  Thank you!
Good News!
We collected 33 jars of peanut butter last weekend for the food pantry at East End Cooperative Ministry in East Liberty. In addition, two representatives from EECM made a presentation on the organization's work to parishioners last Sunday. Several parishioners left contact information for followup action. If you are interested in investigating adult service opportunities at EECM, please contact parishioner Geoff Tolge at geoff.tolge@gmail.com or Andy Bechman 412-781-0186, ext. 18. You can also learn about EECM at their website: http://eecm.org.

CHRISTMAS GIFT PROJECT
St. Scholastica's Christmas Gift Project to benefit children and families in our area and students in Haiti and Kenya is underway.  All gifts and monetary donations should be returned during mass the weekend of Dec. 10th, or delivered to the table set up at the back of the church no later than Dec 11th at noon.  Please securely attach the tag you selected to the outside of your wrapped gift.  Any questions, contact Betsy Henry at 412-968-0330 or Paula Wight at 412-968-1029.
The parish is looking for one or two families interested in chairing the Christmas gift project next year.  If you are interested call one of the contacts above for more information.  Plan to help with the gift sorting on Dec. 11 if you want to learn more.

SANTA'S WORKSHOP
Next weekend, Dec. 3rd and 4th, Santa's Workshop will be open in the Pastoral Center after all the masses. This annual holiday shop for CDTCA has also become a tradition for parishioners to enhance their holiday shopping. A variety of decorative items, handmade crafts, and inexpensive gift items will be available for all ages. Advent candle sets and decorated tabletop trees are just a few of the popular items that will be available for purchase once again this year.

NURSING HOMES
Please advise the Parish Office or email to sandyricchiuto@hotmail.com the names of any family members in nursing homes. The St. Monica Society would like to remember them with greeting cards.
