 Dear Church Family,
We are excited to announce that our church will be putting together a new pictorial directory! This directory will be a great tool for helping us to put faces with names. Every participating family will receive a free pictorial directory, as well as a $25 gift certificate good toward any portrait purchase. You will only have to make one visit to the church, as you will be photographed and view your poses after you are done being photographed. So please stop at the sign up table in the back of church today to schedule your appointment. You may also sign up by email at or by phone at 412-781-0186 ext. 10. The sooner you sign up, the more times you'll have to choose from. See you in the directory!

When was the last time you make a good confession? Be honest now!  Now is the time to make a good confession to prepare your soul for the great feast of Christmas. If not now . . . when??? This Monday evening, Dec 5th, at 7:30 we are celebrating an Advent Penance Service. Confession is also called the Sacrament of Reconciliation: "reconciliation" means to heal wounded relationships - it means to bring into one all your broken and hurting parts. If not now . . . when? What is holding you back? Come this Monday with an open heart hearing the words of Jesus: "No one who comes to me with a humble and contrite heart, will I ever reject!"

The Aquinas Guild will hold its annual Christmas luncheon on Wednesday, December 14th, at noon at the Pittsburgh Field Club. The cost is $25 payable to: "The Aquinas Guild."  RSVP to Karyn Lynch, 127 Pheasant Dr., Pittsburgh, PA 15238 by Friday, December 9th.  Luncheon choices are: Tilapia English Style or Chicken Marsala. Please bring a baby outfit, size newborn-18 months to be donated to a needy charity. Presents may be wrapped with the size and gender indicated on the gift tag. For questions, please call Mary Ellen Maher 412-767-5863.

The St. Monica Society Meeting will be Saturday, Dec. 10, at 9:40 am. Everyone is welcome to join us for prayer and preparing Christmas Cards for the shut ins.

Thank you to all who participated in last week's Blood Drive.  All donations were earmarked for Mario Noro.  May God bless him and bring him to a healthy future.

The Hope for Haiti Committee will meet on Wednesday, December 7th, at 7:30 pm in the Pastoral Center.  All are welcome!

Our call to stewardship includes all of the ways in which we receive God's gifts with gratitude, cultivate them, and share them with others.
Help Needed!
Nancy Heil is requesting new toys (unused toys that you would like to "re-gift" are also acceptable) for Pittsburgh area people who are unable to purchase Christmas gifts. Please leave the toys in one of the bins in the vestibule of the church as soon as possible, but no later than this Tuesday, December 6. Purses, basketballs, footballs, and legos or duplos would be especially useful. Thank you!
Good News!
Thanks to all who have contributed so generously to our efforts to help Nancy Heil in her work and to support the food pantry at East End Cooperative Ministry in East Liberty. Surely the Lord will enter our hearts whenever we open them in generosity to people who are in need. We wish you an abundance of Advent blessings!
Focus On . . .
The Hope for Haiti Committee facilitates St. Scholastica Parish's financial support of students at Good Samaritans School in St. Marc, Haiti, and offers events and materials to increase our understanding of Haiti and our solidarity with the needy children of Haiti. Our activities include a Christmas gift project for Good Samaritans School, sale of Haitian craft items, guest speakers and educational articles for the parish bulletin. We meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. New members and new ideas are always welcome! One of our members writes: "I have met wonderful people, especially from Haiti whom I never would have had an opportunity to meet in person. My participation has given me a greater sense of community within the parish, but also from a global perspective by better understanding the challenges of Haiti." See more at the Stewardship Corner page on our parish website, For more information on the
committee, contact Maureen O'Brien at:
