LETTER FROM THOM BERCIK
Fr. Kenneth White, members of the Pastoral Staff, and all parishioners:
I want to express my heartfelt thanks to all of you for your support, kindness and generosity to me over these past many years. For almost nineteen years I have had the honor of serving as organist, pianist and member of the music ministry of our parish. I have decided to move on to a new position and have accepted an offer as Director of Music in a parish in the Diocese of Richmond,Virginia.
I wish to thank especially the benefactors who contributed to the organ and the donation of the church piano. I have also been privileged to work with a large number of talented cantors, instrumentalists and the SATB, Contemporary, and Resurrection Choirs under the direction of Sr. Pat Baker.
I am sorry that I cannot say good-bye in person, but I need to be at my new parish as soon as possible. You shall always hold a very special place in my memory and heart.
Until we once again sing the praise of the Lord together. I remain,
               Thom M. Bercik.

CHRISTIAN MEDITATION SCHEDULE
Our Christian meditation group will meet this Wednesday morning at 7:00 am in Marsico Library in the Ministry Center. We will not meet on Christmas Day or New Year's Day.  We will resume in the new year on Wednesday, January 8. You are invited to join us at any session.  You do not need any previous experience with meditation.

FOOD BANK MATCHING APPEAL
The Pittsburgh Foundation is sponsoring an appeal to help the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and Westmoreland County Food Bank together with neighborhood pantries that are struggling to meet an unprecedented upsurge in demand. In some local neighborhoods demand has increased by up to 40 percent compared with 2012, and the number of new households seeking food assistance is averaging 3,200 per month.
The Foundation has created a matching fund initially of $100,000 and all contributions between now and year-end will be matched dollar-for-dollar. You can donate with a credit card online at www.pittsburghgives.org.

STEWARDSHIP CORNER
We cannot give up in the face of evil.  God is Love and he has defeated evil through Christ's death and resurrection.                                                  --Pope Francis

Good News!
Nancy Heil coordinates an extensive Christian service effort for people and families who are poor or homeless.  She writes:
Our ministry is deep in the throes of four major Christmas programs for homeless and needy families who depend on us on a weekly basis for food and clothing.  Two of the programs culminate on Monday, December 16, when we will celebrate "Christmas in the Streets."  Rev. Don Bolls, pastor of Aspinwall Presbyterian Church, will once again conduct a beautiful service as we display a nativity set where "the line" will be able to come and pay homage.  Then we will distribute hams, toys, and other gifts to our wonderful brothers and sisters.
Having just experienced a much greater need for turkeys than we had anticipated, we will accept donations of hams.  They can be brought to 318 Third St. in Aspinwall on that Monday—December 16.
We would like to thank Rob Strohm and his associates at Coldwell Banker for their wonderful donation of 50 turkeys.  They played a MAJOR part in our serving 70 families for Thanksgiving.
Because of limitations in volunteer staffing over the holidays, we again ask that (other than the hams) you leave no material donations of food, clothing, or similar items until further notice after the holidays.  We will still be able to accept McDonald's and Port Authority cards.
 Yours in Christ,
  Nancy

Help Needed!
Until further notice,Nancy is able to accept only the following items:
· McDonald's gift cards;
· Port Authority ConnectCards.  Please have only $2.50 of value loaded onto each card. The cards are available at Giant Eagle.
· Cooked hams of any type.  If you are unable to deliver hams to 318 Third St. on Dec. 16, you may leave them in the refrigerator in the serving area of the Pastoral Center before that date. Please, no hams after Dec. 16!
      Thank you for your generosity!
