A NOTE FROM FATHER TORQUATO
As Catholic Christians, we know that our ultimate goal is to receive the eternal salvation that Jesus promises all of us who are his faithful disciples and friends.  We look forward to the everlasting life and blessings and Kingdom that Jesus promises us following our Resurrection from the dead.
In truth, this salvation offered by Jesus is also shared with us in this life as well.  We read in the letters of Saint Paul, “Now is the day of salvation.”  It is a blessing for us to know that we will receive salvation following this life, but it’s also a wonderful gift to experience this beginning of salvation in our lives and families and church.
With and in all the grace and blessings that Jesus gives us now, we have begun to receive the salvation that will be complete in the Kingdom of God.  May we be grateful for the divine life and blessings that we receive now, and may we be assured that the Lord will share eternal life and salvation with us. God bless!
                                                                           —Father Jim Torquato

CATHOLIC PASTORAL MINISTRY AT UPMC SAINT MARGARET HOSPITAL
UPMC Saint Margaret Hospital has always been a ministry of the Episcopalian Diocese of Pittsburgh.
As such, the pastoral care of Catholic patients is the responsibility of every patient’s particular pastor and parish.  Local Catholic pastors have provided pastoral care for critical needs and emergencies.  Also, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion distribute the Holy Eucharist each day.
If you’re scheduled for a stay in UPMC Saint Margaret Hospital, you may contact our parish office for the Sacrament of the Sick before you enter.
If you’re admitted as a patient unexpectedly, please call our parish office since Federal Privacy Laws prohibit the hospital staff from informing us of your presence in the hospital.  Thank you very much!

Jesus is the way to eternal life!
Many aspects of life demand our attention. Many matters fill up our daily and weekly life. These things
take up a great deal of our time, and yet, how much of our daily activity leads us to what’s most important, to
our eternal life with God? Every day, we need to focus on the Lord Jesus because he alone is our salvation!

Our Saint Scholastica Parish Mission is to continue the work of Christ together as a faith community, through the celebration of the Sacraments, living spiritually in the world, and working to be caring members of the community.  As committed Catholics, we are sent to bear the Light of Christ to transform the world by our devotion, service and witness.
