FAREWELL FROM FATHER TORQUATO
Since my arrival as pastor of Saint Scholastica Parish in April 2014, these 4 1/2 years have passed quickly, but I hope they’ve been good and productive years for our parish community and our regional school.  I am very grateful to this parish community as well as the CDTCA school community for your goodness and support during these years.  I hope that I’ve served these two communities well.   I hope that we’re all better for my term as pastor.  I know I’m better for having been pastor among you.
As our Diocesan On Mission initiative enters into its official beginning this Monday, October 15, it’s time for me to make my transition to the ministry of Senior Parochial Vicar in the largest parish grouping of the Diocese which is comprised of Saint Ferdinand Parish in Cranberry Township, Saint Gregory Parish in Zelienople, and Holy Redeemer Parish in Ellwood City.  As I mentioned in April, there will be 20,000 parish members in that grouping with 5,000 participating in the Liturgies every weekend.
Again, thank you for your support and goodness.  My new home and address will be:
                Father James Torquato
                Saint Ferdinand Catholic Parish
                2535  Rochester Road
                Cranberry Township, PA  16066
                     Telephone (724) 776-2888
May the Lord bless you always!
                                                                                  —Father Jim Torquato

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR OUR NOVEMBER 4 MEMORIAL SERVICE
This year’s All Souls Annual Memorial Liturgy will be celebrated on Sunday, November 4, at the 12 noon Mass.  We will remember and pray for all our parish members who died and were buried here in the past 12 months.
Your kindness and compassion are needed as we seek volunteers to welcome and be present with each family remembering a loved one.  Your help will be needed from 11:30am—1:30pm on November 4.
Please sign up on the Volunteer List on the organ console,  OR  call or email Sister Pat Baker by October 28 if you’re available and willing to help on Sunday, November 4.  Thank you very much!

CUSHIONS FOR OUR CHURCH SEATS
Soon, our parish will receive new seat cushions for all the seating in the church.  This project should make our time in the Liturgy more comfortable for everyone!  The cushions have been ordered through the Merhaut Religious Goods Company in Hampton, and after they’re made, they should be installed before the end of October!  Enjoy!

MANY THANKS TO FATHER SEAN HOGAN
In early October,  Father Sean Hogan was informed that the three priests assigned to this grouping of parishes will be presiding at all of the Sunday and Saturday evening Liturgies beginning with next weekend, October 20-21.
We’re all very grateful to Father Hogan for his 23 years of Sunday visits for our parish Liturgies as well as for his ministry and goodness.  Father Hogan will continue in his ministry at Duquesne University.  If you’d like to send a note of thanks to Father Hogan, his address is:

                                Trinity Hall

Jesus gives us a new beginning!
Jesus gave a new beginning to the world when he inaugurated the Kingdom of God here on the earth!  In the past 20 centuries, there have been many new beginnings for the Lord’s Church. Today, Jesus gives us a new beginning in the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh with our On Mission initiative. Let’s get started!

Our Saint Scholastica Parish Mission is to continue the work of Christ together as a faith community, through the celebration of the Sacraments, living spiritually in the world, and working to be caring members of the community.  As committed Catholics, we are sent to bear the Light of Christ to transform the world by our devotion, service and witness.
